Mebane, N.C. -- The Shrine Bowl Combine in Mebane on Saturday was easily the most well attended and talent laden so far this season. Come inside for the scoop.

  • Great thread!

Alston looks really different. Anyway on to recruiting
Am I the only one who's concerned Wiggins might not end up signing?

Did Lewis give any reason for his holding off on a commitment, and does he have a timetable set?

When you listed Carolina first with Alston and Johnson was that cause Carolina is their #1 or just coincidence?

Did you get a sense of whether or not Carolina would make the cut for Crowder's top 5, did Smith show any interest in Carolina?

And finaaaaly do you think there's any chance McNeil proves himself to be too good a player regardless of position for Fedora to pass up ?

My first time seeing Smith in person and I was less than impressed honestly. He 'pops' on video but he didn't out there today.

I think UNC has a legit shot at 5 of the 8 I profiled.

  • Great Job Jon, Can not wait on the 1 on 1s!

  • Not really. And honestly, I'm not sure he's a 'take' for UNC right now. They have more than enough LBs and honestly, I wasn't all that impressed with him. The coaches might feel differently and this was just one day in one camp setting but if I didn't know he was a guy going into today then I wouldn't have even noticed him. That being said you think they might take two hybrids as in Kalambayi and Lowry seeing how theres really no linebackers out there?
I personally think thats the way to go but Im not the coaches either!

  • They aren't going to take 2 hybrids unless they think at least one can grow into a SDE.

The coaches ideally want 1 Bandit, 1 DE and 2 DTs. They pretty much have to get that.

I know Kalambayi is being recruited as a Bandit but I think he has the frame to be a straight DE, however at this point that's not ideal as there are bigger guys still out there.

  • Was only saying that cause on the list u gave us of what they wanted, needed it said 1 linebacker and with yiour statement about LeChaston and the linebacker position, was just wondering if they may just take the player available. They are loaded at LB and have Philip and Dan still coming in this year. What is the Ideal size of a DE?, DT?in your estimation!

Potentially 1 LB if he's good enough. They aren't just going to take anyone. They continually evaluate guys so someone might be a take when they first offer and then decide not to take him later on. That said, LaChaston Smith really doesn't have much interest in UNC at this point.

SDE size is ideally 6-4+, 230+

DT size is ideally 6-1+, 260+
