Now that we know the schedule, what are the expectations for the 2013 edition of the Tar Heels?
Expectations are 10-2, but realistically 8-4 or 9-3.
There are a couple of landmines in there.
@ GT - can't beat them for some reason
@ VT - Tough place to play
@ PITT - In November - BRRRR
Vs. Miami - Thursday showcase
Beat USuCk, though, and it's on...

Great thread to start!
We are replacing some very good players on offense, especially along the offense line, and on defense so I should temper my expectations. But with Fedora leading the charge, Koenning leading the charge on D and 7 home games...I think 9-3 is very realistic.
Of the home games...Miami is currently the only one that gives me caution. Opening game against Little Carolina will be very tough, GT is never a team to take lightly and State in Raleigh, I think we lose 2-3. However I hope I'm wrong and we see a 10-2 or 11-1 season! :)
Improvement is the name of the game. Guys will get better and having Bryn back will win us some of the "tough" ones. I expect no less than 9 wins. Undefeated is not out of the question to me. My realistic guess however is 10-2 regular season, battle it out with Klempsun for the ACC crown and then its on to a bcs bowl! Get excited fellow Heels fans! We are going to the top!
@ South Carolina (ESPN - Thursday night) - I'm hopeful. Chickens lose a lot on defense, but still have Clowney. Also lost Ace Sanders.
Middle Tennessee - W
@ Georgia Tech - The triple option has hated us for years. Will this be the year we overcome?
East Carolina - W
@ Virginia Tech - No way our guys are intimidated by Blacksburg after opening in Columbia - W
Miami (ESPN - Thursday night) I was at the FSU game. That is when I knew that the UNC fan base has what it takes for football - W
Boston College - Could be a trap game but new staff with little talent - W
@ UNC - R - Who is going to QB in a new system with new coaches - W
Virginia - No way UVA comes to UNC and gets the W, too much on the line for the staff recruiting VA - W
@Pittsburgh - this game worries me. After UNC - R and UVA, our guys will be looking down the barrel at a potential 10-2 or better season and the ACCCG.
Old Dominion - W
Duke - It is going to be ugly for the dookies - W

This is the most excited I've been for Tar Heel football since the '09 kickoff with LSU. Prior to the debacle of course. This is a HUGE season for us as a program. We need to get a W against SCar. I'd thoroughly enjoy kicking the Lamecocks tail.
10-2, losses to GT and Pitt
Not scared of Clowney at all
With Hurst on Clowney I feel good.
Plus, I think Blake will run plays away from Clowney to negate his presence.
I'm not worried about Clowney. Sure he is a very solid player, but we've got an experienced, strong, quick, and the biggest difference, SMART OG in James Hurst. He will do just fine against a brain dead Clowney. In this society, one play makes a bigger difference in viewers eyes than consistency. Clowney makes a great play or two a game, but he's about as consistent as their QB's durability
What in the hell does an OG have to do with Clowney?
I didn't type it but it must've been a typo. James Hurst is our starting left tackle and one of the best in the nation at that. I am really excited for that match up and while Clowney has the obvious advantage I'm willing to bet Hurst holds his own ground. Kid will be taken in the first two rounds next year.
Hurst will be a first rounder next year. Not top 5 like Clowney, but I think he goes 20-32. Clowney is a FREAK but Hurst can hold his own. The problem for us will be when they move Cowney to rush the right side as we will have a new starter there. If I were Spurrier I'd put Clowney there the whole game.
Offensive guard, I meant OT, for tackle.
