UNC tight end Eric Ebron, who was particularly vocal leading into the N.C. State game, spoke with reporters following UNC's 27-19 win.
Does anything they said to you stick out?
“I don’t care. I absolutely do not care.”
Did you say anything back?
“Oh, yes. Yes. I definitely did. Why wouldn’t I?”
Do you like that, trash talking on the field?
“Umm, I mean I love trash talking. To the players. The fans don’t play, so that doesn’t bother me. It just amazes me how when they’re up, it’s all State. And down, it’s, ‘Man, you guys this, you guys that.’ Uh huh. Role reversal, huh? Nobody really cares.”
What did you think of the midfield logo?
“It was beautiful. It looks just like ECU, don’t it?”
Is it especially sweet to win at N.C. State?
“Oh, it’s definitely sweet. My freshman year we came here and were shut out. That feeling, and that taste that was in your mouth for two years just sat there. We came back, and we were just relentless. Every football team makes mistakes, but we were relentless. We kept coming at them and coming at them.”
On the “Whose state? Our state” chant:
“Yeah (there was a statement made). Absolutely. Tell them that this is our state. If we don’t have your respect already, we’re going to keep on taking it until the point that you have no choice but to respect us. This is our state. Our win ratio to their losses, I mean, we’re killing them. You just have to let them know it, whose state this really is.”
What was Larry Fedora’s message to you about Twitter?
“Just stop Tweeting, that my actions speak louder than words. Coach Fedora, coach Bell, coach Anderson — they know that no matter what I say, it’s not going to affect my game. As we saw here, it’s not. The talking I did was more for my teammates than myself and more for the State fans because I wanted a challenge. If this really is your state, then come prove it. That’s what we went for.”
On his teammates following through on his trash talk:
“My teammates have my back. They know that I go out every game and every practice, and I do everything that I can for them. They know that no matter what I say or what I do, I’ve got every one of my teammates respect, and they know that I’m here for them. I grind, and I fight, and I get beat down for them.”
Did you think you needed to play even better than usual?
“Nope. I just went out there and played the way I usually play. I didn’t feel like I needed to do anything. I didn’t feel like I needed to become Superman. I didn’t feel like I needed to do anything the coaches didn’t put me in the gameplan to do. I went out there and did everything they asked me to do, except that fumble. After that, I went out there and just tore it up.”
I freaking love that kid. Quite possibly my favorite football Tar Heel right next to Gio.
So glad he said what he said this week and that we went into that freaking hillbilly cesspool and won. Back to chapel hill for a shower and a tetanus shot then get ready for the yahoos
Thanks for this Chris!

I literally refuse to take my fiancé over there for any sporting events. Two years ago she was hit with footballs twice by the same guy while we were tailgating with my fraternity brothers from state. She's harassed to a point where I'll just pay for a spa day for her when the Heels go over there.
I dont blame you Ben. Best to avoid the bs.
Ebron is the man. Great Interview Chris! BlueHeaven
