In this thread, feel free to ask anything you would like concerning just about anything. The most common questions are UNC football, basketball and recruiting related but if you'd like to ask something else then go right ahead!

Since there haven't been any questions on some days, I'm thinking about going with either a weekly thread or just an ongoing thread that I don't necessarily change out. The benefits would be being able to look back through and see answers to the questions that have been answered in the past. Now that I think about it, I like that a lot more than the daily threads.
snuca asked...What are the underlining differences between an Official and Unofficial visit?
Official visits are paid for by the school and the recruit can take 5 after September 1st. of his senior season through the end of the signing period.
The school pays for transportation to and from campus, meals, lodging and a few other things so that the visit is basically free. They can only last for about 48 hours so most occur on the weekends beginning Friday nights and ending sometime on Sunday.
Unofficial visits are anytime that the recruit visits the school and pays their own way. They can can obviously visit a school as many times as they want but 'officially' only once.

snuca asked...Jon, Do you think Fedora may change his thinking on getting in college early if possible after the showing of Shakeel after he could not even practice due to injury. I ask because according to Switzer Fedora told him it would do him no good to gain early entry!
Because of the NCAA #s they can't have but so many early enroll and some positions ala OL and DL which can start a college weight program and training table etc would stand to benefit more than other guys like Switzer.
If it were up to Fedora (and most college coaches) he would enroll everyone as soon as possible to get them in the program and training them the way that they want to.

Hey Jon! They say Tyquan has committed but is not ready to announce. Have you heard anything? I am figuring os. Just an educated guess though!
'Smart money is Ohio State.'
Update: Apparently, Lewis has backed off the assertion that he's actually made a commitment. That said, unless something crazy happens with someone already committed to UNC, he doens't have a spot in this recruiting class.
I know that Fedora hasn't really given any indication about this, but who do you think is leading the way to start as Punt returner and kick returner, Jon? Thanks in advance!
From Fedora late last week:
‘We’re working with a lot of guys to see who wants that job. T.J. (Thorpe) won’t be doing that for us so we’re looking at a lot of guys. If we had to go today at kickoff return it would be (Sean) Tapley and Romar Morris. If it was punt return right now it would probably be Gio (Bernard). But that may change between now and the first.’
Hey Jon, I have heard several 14 cycle players say they thought they would make a decision prolly next summer! Do you see this becoming the norm as early as many offers seem to be going out.
Most prospects that committed to UNC this cycle did so in the spring and summer before their senior seasons. I think most will likely keep this same time frame.
I know you mentioned trying to get up with Wiggins about where he stands going into the final year. Has he been to busy with Football to catch up with. I know you have been at it hard!
As long as Wiggins still plans to take other official visits, which to my knowledge he is, then I'm going to keep him as a 'soft' commit.
wassup....I realize he is practice fodder at this point but how has Drew Davis looked at QB?
Meh. I've honestly never been a huge fan of his and so far he hasn't done anything, that I've seen, to prove me wrong.
That said, with some added size, strength, experience and seasoning he could turn into a serviceable and maybe even formidable scout team guy. I just don't see him having the potential to go out and win games at an ACC level.
Is Chris Duffy now being looked at more seriously now In case Alston picks state?
Doubtful. The staff is looking for larger WRs and Duffy, who is only about 5-10, definitely doesn't fit that description.
From just a an overall point of view, what do you think is our most lacking position in terms of talent?
Wide out. Easily. For what Fedora wants to do there just isn't enough quality depth for this now highlighted position to be a strength of the team.
Jon, another, what have you thought about Travis Riley? What type runner is he?
Will fill the 'big back' role once Blue leaves. Want to see him stay healthy and potentially get on the field this fall. Running in practice (which I haven't seen him do much) and running in a game are two different things.
We have 2 spots left. I'm assuming we want 1 more WR and 1 more interior OL with North being the cherry on top. Are we all in on Crowder...and if we miss...do we offer another OL or do we push to add a second WR (besides North)?
If Johnathan Alston commits when they'll hold a spot for MarQuez North and be done. Although if they get the feeling that they'll be out of the running for North then they might go for another OL.
Also, all of the current commits are expected to qualify which includes T.J. Logan, Jarran Reed, James Summers, Monte Taylor etc. Now, that doesn't mean that everyone will, it's just that they're all expected to and if that happens, Alston commits then they'll only have room for 1 more (preferably North).
Crowder, who is expected to be at the game against Elon, is incredibly hard to get a read on although he's continued to keep UNC in his top group there's some question as to how realistic it is that he ends up in Chapel Hill after NSD.
Jon, I want to go to a couple of hillside and Wakefield games this year. What games would you recommend that would be more competitive?
On Aug. 31st they host Dematha, Md. which should be an interesting game.
On Sept. 7th Hillside plays Dudley which has '14 offered Bandit target Chris Register
On Sept. 21st, Wakefield will play Milbrook which has '13 WR Louisville commit (and former UNC target) Corey Cooper
On Sept 28th, Wakefield plays at Leesville Road which is home to '14 target Braxton Berrios. Last year this game ended up in a 67-58 Leesville Road win.
With the safetys being so young this year Jon How is Jeff Battle stacking up with them in your opinion?
He's a walk-on for a reason. That said, I think he could provide some good depth on special teams but if Battle has to see time for any reason then it's like having Roy Smith see a lot of time .... something is likely really wrong. You want scholarship guys like Kam Jackson, Sam Smiley and Clint Heaven to step up ideally.
Honestly, we don't really get to see enough of the safeties run, cover and hit in the media portion to get a great feel at how good a guy like Battle might be. Not yet anyway.
How much are hillside games?
I imagine they're probably $5-10 at the gate? Can't imagine they would be much more.
How has Nazair Jones looked so far this season? Curious if he's back to his old self or still trying to get his legs about him after the long layoff due to the illness.
Havent seen him play yet but just looking at him on the sidelines he's definitely continuing to add weight back.
