Athletes

  • I went to grad school with guys that played D-I football, basketball and baseball. We used to debate which sport had the best athletes. The consensus was basketball generally had the most skilled athletes. However, there was no agreement between basketball and football as far as pure athleticism.

    What say you?

I am especially interested to hear from the recruiting guys that see these guys in high school before they get into big time S&C programs.

  • My opinion is there are no greater athletes than BBall High Flyers between the sizeof Six Feet Four inches and Six feet seven inches!. Though I have seen some Running backs and Linebackers who are total packages that may say otherwise.

  • I think it depends on the individual. There are plenty of extremely gifted athletes in basketball, baseball, and football. If I had to choose it would probably be basketball. Although when guys use to play both ways in football it was probably football.

  • I used to think the same way, but what football players can do when they aren't in pads is ridiculous!

  • While basketball players have amazing jumping ability, I think most football players are better athletes. Only in football can you see a guy who weighs 230 run a sub 4.5 40 and bench his weight. Plus a lot of your skilled football players have similar verticals to basketball players. Think of how many guys play basketball after the football season yet you don't see guys playing football after the basketball season. Football players are better built to play multiple sports and therfore in my opinion are better athletes.
