  • Here's an Adams interview ...

Deke Adams talks about why he took USC d-line job and what he thinks about Jadeveon Clowney | Spur of the Moment

  • I find it real humorous that you can say in one breathe that said person has been good to you and your family. Then walk out on them. Loyalty huh

    LiLLes88

  • Loyalty, shmoyalty! I hope this doesn't mean he's going to try to take Greg Webb with him to SCAR.

    To heck with ESPNSEC!!!

I can't wait until we beat the tar out of those Chickens!!! Go Heels!!!

  • I have some questions as to why we would hire a coach from a lesser football program especially an ACC coach but I here Adams is a good one. Time will tell.

    CousinEddie

  • South Carolina fans sure do have an inflated view of themselves.

You have virtually no history of being a relevant program before Spurrier rolled into town.

    Exhibit A: 51% win percentage (566 wins all-time)
Exhibit B: 6-12 bowl game record
Exhibit C: 1 conference title (ACC 1969) and only 1 division title (2010)
    Exhibit D: 15 consensus AA's
Exhibit E: 23 current NFL players

    UNC, by comparison:

    Exhibit A: 57% win percentage all-time (607 wins)
Exhibit B: 13-16 bowl game record
    Exhibit C: 9 conference titles
    Exhibit D: 14 consensus AA's
Exhibit E: 27 current NFL players

    Last 5 years record:

    South Carolina - 45-21 overall
    North Carolina - 39-25 overall

Aside from the last 3 years you all have been terribly irrelevant.

Get off that high horse, man...

  • The ACCs record against the sec last year especially late would argue your statement. I truly believe Spurrier went for two bird with one stone. I think it will backfire and Fed will use it as ammo. sc mighta bit off more than chewable.

  • I was gonna go there tommy but I figured I'd let them have this one. They are currently better than we are so we will go with that for now. All will be proven in August when we will be the clear underdogs. I can't wait though. Playing teams like Scar will only make us better. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'd rather lose to the cocks than beat Elon by 60. As a team on the rise we need quality opponents and Scar is just that. Bring it on cocks! And may the team in the better looking uniforms(us) win!

I've never understood why South Carolina and North Carolina don't play each other in every sport every year. It's a natural rivalry and one I would enjoy given the number of Chapel Hill fans I know.

Alas, I don't expect too much of a game next season. The crowd at WB has been waiting five years for the tarheels to come to Columbia, and it's going to be rabid at kickoff. This is going to be Georgia game all over again IMO.

I agree. I think it would be beneficial for both universities to play every year with a home-home-Charlotte rotation.

I would, also, enjoy the same format in baseball.

Definitely agree. I'm enjoying this very much and it would only get better/ worse with an anual rivalry!

How much did Spurrier pay that great North Carolinian to stand by him?

I just wonder how long the Gamecocks have to do very well in the toughest conference in football to be taken seriously. 5 years? 10?

I know it will take at least 10 straight years beating Clempson for them to let the high horse rest for a while, but North Carolina? Y'all lost 3 games in the Atlantic Freaking Coast Conference last year, despite avoiding the only 2 teams in the conference that resemble football teams.

I thought CU giving up 70 to Wake last year was terrible. Y'all gave up 68 points to a team that can't throw the ball (except, apparently, vs. UNC).

I also don't have time to teach you how to speak hobo.

I think a rotating series in baseball would be awesome. Didn't you guys upgrade your facility not long back? We built our new stadium and it's amazing. Theyr'e building a new AAA stadium in downtown Charlotte. I think a home/home/neutral baseball series would be great.
You could play a three game set in Columbia/Chapel Hill followed by a series in Charlotte over consecutive years or do the format we do with Clemson. We play one game at our place, one at their place and one neutral site game over one weekend. Pretty neat format. No reason we couldn't play game one in Columia, game two in Charlotte and game three Chapel Hill, or start in Chapel Hill and go the other way.

I think you need to at least win your division before you start peacocking too much.

Spurrier has built a solid program, but the braggadocios things written on our board from Cock fans is not in line with the on the field accomplishments.

The Bosh is a beautiful stadium. I understand that you guys have a great stadium as well.

I think it would make for a few awesome summer nights!

I have been to the Bosh since the redo and it is a excellent baseball facility. I am a fan of both the football and baseball programs working out a rotation for both schools to match up on a regular basis. It would be easier to work this out from a football perspective imo. Plus, I don't know the relationship that Fox and Holbrook have today on the baseball side. I have a question GoingHeels ? You guys have the baseball stadium and a great coach that has built a top notch program, why is their not more fan support for baseball in Chapel Hill ? No flame, just wondering as it seems like all the pieces of the puzzle needed are there in place.

Baseball isnt as big in NC as it is in SC. I am from NC, but live in Charleston now and that is what I have found. NC as a state is basketball first, football second. I think with SC not having any pro teams it has lead folks in the state to be very supportive of their local college teams in all sports. JMO though

Well, that and not having 5 additional D1 schools to split up the fan bases.

    Duke
    Wake Forest
    ECU
Charlotte (decent bball with football coming)

I understand why UNC wouldn't want to give us a basketball game, as that would simply be charity (and largely non-competitive perhaps). But, it stands to reason that everyone would benefit from football and baseball. And I just can't get over the simple geographical inevitability that is being ignored. I can't imagine that other neighboring states don't have huge rivalries from the flagship, namesake universities (i.e. Florida-Georgia, Mich.-Ohio State, Texas-Oklahoma). It's a guaranteed marquee game (at least regionally, which is where we both recruit).

Oh well. I'll enjoy this one in 2013.

I agree with you. IMO UNC ans SC should play one non conf game in all sports. I like the rotation of Home-Home-Charlotte for Football/basketball/ and baseball to be honest (once charlotte gets the uptown baseball stadium for the knights). Heck make a little trophy that the winner of wins gets at the end of the year. Make it fun, thats what college sports are supposed to be, right?
