On Monday morning, 247Sports pushed through a major update to the network and unveiled an additional system for ranking recruits: the 247Composite.

DT commit Greg Webb is now the No. 93 overall prospect in the nation according to the 247Composite
The 247Composite takes the rankings of all four major recruiting sites and runs them through a complex algorithm using a Gaussian distribution formula to create the most comprehensive ranking on the Internet. The system effectively helps to eliminate any individual biases in the ranking process by forming an “average” of sorts based on numerical data.
In addition, it also allows literally thousands of prospects to be ranked, something that sets 247Sports.com far ahead of any other network covering recruiting.
CarolinaBlue.com breaks down how the Tar Heels’ 2013 recruiting class stacks up nationally.
The Tar Heels check in at No. 16 in the 247Sports team rankings, which now use the 247Composite to rank classes.
While the Tar Heels initially have 3 commitments in the Top247, only 2 make the 247Composite.
Defensive tackle commit Greg Webb is the top overall rated and ranked recruit and comes in at no. 93 in the 247Composite. And although not in the Top247, cornerback Brian Walker lands at no. 230 in the 247Composite.
Just missing the 247Composite cut are athlete T.J. Logan who is ranked no. 201 in the Top247 but comes in at no. 341 in the 247Composite. Quarterback commit Mitch Trubisky is no. 236 in the Top247 but falls to no. 282 in the 247Composite.
